About the role – Test Engineer
The Test Engineer is responsible for performing acceptance testing and reporting on electrical units in line with quality procedures and engineering requirements. This is a hands‑on technical role at the forefront of testing innovation within Hayward Tyler, supporting both current operations and future capability.
You will work closely with Electrical, Hydraulic, Quality and Production teams to ensure that test plans, quality standards and safety requirements are fully met.
What you will do:
Testing & Technical Delivery
- Perform acceptance testing on large‑scale induction motors up to 13.8kV and 3.2MW.
- Accurately monitor, record and report test data in line with defined test plans and engineering standards.
- Ensure test reports are completed and logged within engineering systems within 24 hours of test completion.
- Investigate and support the development of test data acquisition and control systems.
Health, Safety & Quality
- Maintain high standards of Health & Safety at all times, ensuring compliance with procedures and safe working practices.
- Ensure all test equipment is operational, maintained and correctly calibrated.
- Work strictly to procedures and quality plans to ensure product integrity and compliance.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Coordinate with Production teams to support testing schedules for new units, repairs and spares.
- Actively participate in lean and continuous improvement activities, including 5S and structured problem solving.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping within the test environment.
- Identify and support opportunities to improve testing efficiency, quality and safety.

What you will need:
Essential requirements
- Qualification to Level 4/5 (NQF) in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- High voltage awareness and experience working with high‑voltage equipment.
- Experience with large‑scale test set‑ups and power systems.
- Experience with data acquisition systems and working to test procedures and quality plans.
- Strong Health & Safety awareness.
- Flexible, proactive approach with a positive “can‑do” attitude.
Health & Safety requirement
Due to the safety‑critical nature of this role, any offer of employment will be conditional upon the successful completion of a relevant occupational health assessment. This assessment will be arranged following a conditional offer and is intended to confirm the individual’s fitness to work safely in a high‑risk environment, including exposure to high‑voltage testing. All assessments will be conducted in line with applicable health and safety legislation and the Company’s internal requirements.
Desirable
- Knowledge of IEC and ISO testing standards (e.g. IEC 60034, ISO 9906).
- Experience carrying out dielectric and performance testing.
- Hydraulics or VSD experience.
- Experience with automated test control systems or LabVIEW.
- Experience working in clean or controlled test environments.

We supply spare parts for all pumps and motors, including legacy products in all industries including Oil and Gas, Power, Defence, and Nuclear.
Pay: £40,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
