Are you an experienced ELSA practitioner looking for a role where you can have a genuine, lasting impact on children’s wellbeing? A supportive and community-focused primary school in Haringey is looking to appoint a confident and compassionate Emotional Literacy Support Assistant to join their team for the summer term.
This is a varied and rewarding role, offering flexibility to suit the right candidate. The school can accommodate either part-time working (three days per week, with the possibility of continuing into the autumn term) or a full-time commitment for the summer term.
The role in context - Emotional Literacy Support Assistant
You will be at the heart of the school’s pastoral support provision, helping pupils develop the emotional awareness and resilience they need to succeed both in and out of the classroom. Working closely with the SENCo and teaching staff, you will deliver structured ELSA interventions and adapt your approach to meet individual needs.
A significant part of your timetable will involve supporting a group of Year 4 pupils through targeted group sessions, alongside delivering bespoke 1:1 support. There may also be opportunities to work with pupils across other year groups as needs arise.
What your week might look like - Emotional Literacy Support Assistant
- Running small, structured ELSA sessions focused on emotional literacy and wellbeing
- Supporting individual pupils on a 1:1 basis with tailored intervention plans
- Tracking progress and adjusting support strategies accordingly
- Liaising regularly with staff to ensure a consistent and joined-up approach
- Contributing to a calm, nurturing environment where pupils feel safe and understood
About you - Emotional Literacy Support Assistant
- You are ELSA-trained and bring solid experience of delivering interventions in a primary setting
- You have a strong understanding of SEMH needs and how these can present in the classroom
- You are patient, perceptive, and able to build strong, trusting relationships with children
- You are organised and able to monitor impact effectively
- You enjoy working collaboratively and being part of a supportive team
