UPS Field Service Engineer
Salary: £30,000 – £45,000 basic + overtime + bonus + callout payments
Home-based field role with occasional workshop attendance | UK-wide travel | Company vehicle provided
The Role
As a UPS Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for attending customer sites throughout the UK to maintain, service, commission, install and repair UPS and associated critical power equipment.
This is primarily a home-based field service position, with engineers travelling directly from home to customer sites. However, engineers will also be required to attend our workshop when necessary, including for workshop-based repairs, training, preparation of equipment or on working days where no field service work has been assigned.
Experienced engineers will be expected to attend sites independently, diagnose faults and deliver a high standard of technical service to our customers.
Graduate engineers will receive training and development appropriate to their level of experience, with the expectation of progressing towards independently carrying out field service work.
Typical responsibilities will include:
- Planned preventative maintenance of UPS systems
- UPS fault diagnosis, repair and remedial works
- UPS commissioning
- UPS installations and upgrades
- Battery installation and replacement
- Battery impedance and condition testing
- Load bank testing
- Working with UPS associated equipment including batteries, switchgear, inverters, converters and rectifiers
- Producing accurate service reports and technical documentation
- Liaising professionally with customers while on site
- Carrying out workshop-based repairs and other engineering duties when required
- Participating in the company's callout rota
Location & Travel
This is primarily a home-based field engineering role involving regular travel to customer sites throughout the UK.
Engineers will generally travel directly from home to their assigned customer sites. There will also be occasions when attendance at our workshop is required, including for repair work, training, equipment preparation and on working days where no field assignments have been scheduled.
A significant amount of driving is involved, so applicants should be comfortable travelling extensively as part of their role.
Candidates located with convenient access to the M1 corridor and/or M25 would be particularly well positioned for the role, although strong applicants from other UK locations will also be considered.
A company vehicle, laptop and mobile phone will be provided, with business expenses paid in accordance with company policy.
Salary & Benefits
Salary: £30,000 – £45,000 basic + overtime + bonus + callout payments
Salary will be determined according to the successful candidate's experience, technical capability and relevant qualifications.
As a guide:
- Graduate / Trainee Engineer: from £30,000 basic salary
- Experienced UPS Field Service Engineer: salary dependent on experience and technical capability, within the advertised range
