The Rock Project Kingston is an after school music school teaching children aged from 7-18 how to play an instrument and perform in a band. We are currently seeking a passionate, experienced, and committed Bass Guitar Tutor for Tuesday evenings in our New Malden, Kingston venue.
In this role, you will deliver engaging, fun lessons to small groups of children to help their musical growth, technical proficiency, and confidence. Your enthusiasm for music and dedication to teaching will help students unlock their potential and cultivate a lifelong love for playing the bass guitar. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact through music education while honing your instructional skills.
We are currently seeking someone for 2 hours a week on Tuesday evenings - 6-8pm - but there is potential for a new school to open soon on either Monday or Thursday evenings.
Responsibilities
- Teach students how to play bass guitar and perform in a band.
- Demonstrate proper technique, music theory, rhythm, and tab-reading skills to students of varying ages and skill levels.
- Create a positive, motivating learning environment that encourages student engagement and progress.
- Assess student performance regularly and provide constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.
- Provide the necessary teaching and training resources for the children, specifically bass guitar tabs for each new song covered by the group.
- Foster a love for music by inspiring creativity, confidence, and perseverance in every lesson.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Proven experience in tutoring or teaching bass guitar.
- Proven experience teaching children in 1-2-1 and small group settings.
- Passion for music education - especially teaching and working with children - and a lively, motivating teaching style.
- Must be registered self-employed with valid UTR number.
- Must have an enhanced, in-date DBS certificate. We can apply for certificate on your behalf but the cost will be paid by applicant.
- Must have full UK driving license, and/or be located within short commute distance from venue.
- Must attend annual end of year concert to support students - generally a Saturday afternoon in July.
- Any experience with music technology/live sound engineering a bonus.
- Being able to teach guitar, drums or vocals to help cover other tutors especially sought after.
Pay: £31.00 per hour
