** Background
We are seeking two part-time Academic Skills Tutors to be based primarily at the Tooting Campus (co-located with St George's Hospital) on a fixed-term basis until September 2028. Organisationally, the roles sit within the Student Learning Development department in Learning Enhancement and Development (LEaD), which supports and enhances education across City St George's. The postholders will provide academic skills support for students studying medicine, biomedical sciences and healthcare programmes through a range of in-person and online interventions.
** Responsibilities
Working as part of the Academic Skills team, you will deliver high-quality academic skills support through one-to-one tutorials, small group sessions, workshops and webinars. You will assess students' learning needs, develop tailored support strategies, create and maintain learning resources, and contribute to the Team's online provision. The role also involves working closely with academic and professional services colleagues to support student success, promote effective referral pathways, evaluate provision and contribute to service enhancement activities.
** Person Specification
The successful candidate will hold a Cambridge DELTA or Trinity DipTESOL qualification together with a Master's degree. You will have experience of delivering academic skills or English for Academic Purposes (EAP) support within a higher education environment and possess excellent communication, organisational and time-management skills. You will be confident working collaboratively with staff and students, have strong digital capabilities, and demonstrate an up-to-date understanding of academic skills development and inclusive student support practices
