Reporting to: Field Service Engineer Supervisor
We are looking for a proactive and hands-on Field Service Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity for an electromechanical engineer who enjoys problem-solving, customer interaction, and working across both site-based and in-house service activities.
This is a varied role based around customer requirements. You will spend time supporting customers internationally and across the UK, as well as working from our Northamptonshire facility. As such, the role requires flexibility in travel, working location, and availability.
The role
When on customer sites, you will support Torquemeters products in demanding operational environments:-
- Supervising and configuring installations in line with customer specifications.
- Mechanical installation of rotating machinery.
- Carrying out electrical installation, verification, and wiring activities.
- Diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults.
- On-site maintenance and calibration.
- Commissioning systems through SAT’s to ensure all specifications are met.
- Producing clear, professional service reports using Microsoft Office tools.
When based at our Northamptonshire manufacturing facility, your responsibilities will also include:-
- Carrying out in-house calibrations, overhauls, and repairs.
- Completing mechanical disassembly, assembly, and repairs.
- Undertaking electrical assembly and testing activities.
- Preparing cables and supporting panel building activities.
- Calibration, commissioning, and final testing.
- Providing responsive customer support.
- Using internal IT systems to retrieve service history and technical data.
Key skill requirements:
- An apprenticeship or equivalent background in electromechanical engineering, with strong electrical skills.
- Strong fault-finding, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work independently and build positive working relationships with customer teams on site.
- Willingness and availability to travel internationally, sometimes at short notice.
- A full driving licence.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers and colleagues at all levels.
- A genuine interest in developing into a product specialist within a technically demanding environment.

Core hours of work are 39 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 7.30am-4.30pm, with ½ hour lunch break & Friday 7.30am-12.30pm.
