We’re looking for a proactive and detail-driven Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Derby. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience with real responsibility across cost control, subcontractor management, valuations, and commercial delivery.
You’ll work closely with experienced Commercial Director (RICS-accredited) on projects who will be training to allow continuous progression in your role.
Key Responsibilities
- Price jobs using schedules of rates (SORs) and site surveys
- Develop delivery models for direct teams and subcontractors
- Draft and issue subcontractor work orders
- Manage and record variations accurately
- Liaise with site teams and clients to agree scope changes
- Prepare monthly valuations and issue invoices
- Submit final accounts for subcontractors and clients
- Maintain and analyse Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs)
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in construction (preferably in social housing or refurbishment)
- Familiarity with SORs, CVRs, and multi-trade projects
- Strong skills in Excel and construction management software
- Great communication skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage workload independently and solve problems effectively

Schedule:
- Monday to Friday 8am-4.30pm
- Office-based with site visits as needed
