We’re working with a Cardiff-based client recruiting a Registered Manager and Deputy Officer in Charge to support the launch and development of a Children’s Residential Home for vulnerable young people.
This is a great opportunity to join a growing service focused on high-quality, child-centred care in a safe environment, offering short-term placements (up to 12 weeks) for young people with complex needs while long-term plans are arranged.
*Registered Manager post overview: *
The Registered Manager will take overall responsibility for the leadership, management, and compliance of the home, ensuring the service operates in line with regulatory standards and delivers positive outcomes for children and young people. You will lead and develop the staff team, oversee safeguarding practices, and promote a culture of high-quality care and support.
*Deputy Officer in Charge post overview: *
The Deputy Officer in Charge will support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring standards of care, safeguarding, and compliance are consistently maintained. You will play a key role in supporting staff, promoting positive outcomes, and ensuring children and young people feel safe, supported, and empowered.
*Key Requirements: *
- Previous experience within a residential childcare setting
- Strong safeguarding knowledge and understanding of child-centred practice
- Knowledge of The Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills
- Experience managing or supervising staff teams
- Relevant qualifications in Health & Social Care / Children & Young People. For example: Minimum Level 3 for Deputy Officer in Charge, then Level 5 for the Registered Managers post
- Eligibility to meet Social Care Wales registration requirements
Contract Length: 3 months with a view to extend.
Pay Rate for Manager: £23.37 PAYE
Pay Rate for Deputy: £18.85 PAYE
Working pattern - 37 hours per week.
