Job Purpose
As a Residential Support Worker, you will play a key role in supporting children and young people in care. You will assist in their daily routines, emotional development, and overall well-being, ensuring a warm, safe, and structured environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support children and young people in their day-to-day lives, including school attendance, activities, and appointments
- Promote independence, self-esteem, and positive behaviour through consistent routines and boundaries
- Provide personal care support, including assistance with hygiene, dressing, and other daily living activities as needed
- Build trusting, respectful relationships with children and act as a positive role model
- Work as part of a team to implement care plans, risk assessments, and safeguarding procedures
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to reports and reviews
- Assist with domestic duties including cooking, cleaning, and maintaining a safe home environment
- Participate in training and development opportunities
Desirable Requirements
- Experience working with children or young people in any setting
- Experience working in a children’s residential home
- NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent or willingness to work towards it)
- Understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and trauma-informed care
