We are seeking a dedicated, empathetic, and organised Support & Progression Worker to join our team. In this role, you will work alongside companions, walking with them as they gain skills, rebuild their lives, and prepare for employment and independent living.
About the Role
As a Support & Progression Worker, you will deliver person-centred support tailored to each companion’s unique strengths, goals, and needs. Working closely with our Community Manager and wider team, you will design and implement individual Support & Progression Plans that focus on personal growth, employability, and housing readiness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Employability & Skills: Assist companions with CV building, job searches, interview preparation, and finding training courses or volunteering opportunities.
- Universal Credit & Benefits Support: Help companions maintain active Universal Credit claims, manage claimant commitments, and liaise with DWP Work Coaches.
- Move-On & Independent Living: Guide companions through housing applications, tenancy readiness, budgeting, and the transition into independent accommodation.
- Community Engagement: Work alongside companions across our social enterprises and community activities, fostering a safe, positive, and inclusive environment.
- Partnership Building: Develop strong relationships with local employers, housing providers, training agencies, and specialist support services (such as mental health or addiction recovery).
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, confidential case notes, track progression outcomes, and monitor key performance indicators.

Essential Requirements:
- Experience: Background in working with vulnerable adults, delivering support planning, and guiding individuals towards employment, education, or independent living.
- Skills: Excellent communication, active listening, and administrative skills, with the ability to build trusting professional relationships while maintaining boundaries.
- Knowledge: Understanding of homelessness, safeguarding, GDPR, Universal Credit/welfare benefits, and housing pathways.
- Education: GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/Level 4 or equivalent) and strong IT literacy (Microsoft Office, electronic record systems).
- Driving Licence: Full UK driving licence and willingness to drive community vehicles when required.
Desirable Criteria:
- Professional qualification in Health & Social Care, Housing, or Community Support.
- Experience within homelessness or supported housing environments.
- Knowledge of local South Wales housing options, employers, and support agencies.
