As a vital member of our charity shop team, you will help create a welcoming environment for customers, assist with daily shop operations, and contribute to raising vital funds for animal rescue and care. What you’ll be doing
- Greet customers warmly and provide excellent customer service to ensure a positive shopping experience.
- Assist with the sorting, pricing, and display of donated goods to maximize sales potential.
- Handle cash register transactions accurately and responsibly, including processing sales, Gift Aid and donations.
- Maintain a clean and organized shop environment, ensuring shelves are well-stocked and tidy.
- Support stock management by receiving donations, recording inventory, and managing storage areas.
- Promote awareness of the RSPCA’s mission and encourage community involvement through friendly engagement.
- Contribute to team efforts by participating in shop meetings and training sessions as and when required.
What we’re looking for
- Previous customer service experience is desirable but not essential; enthusiasm and a friendly attitude are key.
- Basic IT and numeracy skills for operating cash registers and handling electronic transactions.
- Previous administrative experience is beneficial for managing stock records or shop documentation.
- Good communication skills to interact effectively with customers, donors, and team members.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a busy retail environment.
- Enthusiasm for animal welfare causes and community engagement.
- Available to work a regular number of hours each week. Our shops are open Monday to Saturday, and Chesham is open on Sunday, too.
- You must be aged 16 or over.
- If you prefer not to work in the shop front, but are happy to work in the storeroom, sorting and preparing the stock, that would be great, too. Just let us know.
