Purpose of Role
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Commercial Manager with strong PFI and Facilities Management experience to join our commercial team.
Job Description
You will have responsibility for managing complex, long-term contracts, supporting financial performance, and ensuring compliance across hard and soft FM services.
Responsibilities
- Commercial management of PFI contracts, including unitary charge mechanisms and performance deductions
- Management of lifecycle replacement programmes, forecasting, and cost control
- Preparation and negotiation of variations, compensation events, and change notices
- Financial forecasting, budgeting, and reporting
- Procurement and commercial management of subcontractors and supply chain
- Ensuring compliance with PFI contractual requirements, payment mechanisms, and KPIs
- Supporting dispute avoidance and resolution, including negotiations with Authorities
- Providing commercial advice to operational and facilities management teams
- Assisting with audits, benchmarking, and open-book reviews
Essential Qualifications/Skills
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Assistant Commercial Manager
- Strong background in PFI / PPP contracts
- Demonstrable experience within Facilities Management (hard and/or soft services)
- Understanding of lifecycle costing and long-term financial models
- Contractual knowledge (NEC, bespoke PFI contracts)
- Experience working with public sector clients (NHS, education, local authorities desirable)
- Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills
- High level of commercial acumen and attention to detail
