Accounts & Administration Assistant
Location: Sunderland (Leechmere Industrial Estate)
Contract: Permanent
Start Date: End of July (with handover period)
Hours: Minimum 30 hours per week (flexible, can work around school hours within 8am–5pm)

BD Plastics Limited is a well-established business based in Sunderland, operating since 1998. We are stockists of a wide range of plumbing and drainage products, including fascias and soffits, drainage systems, and wall cladding.
With a small, close-knit team of 10 and a loyal, long-standing customer base, we pride ourselves on reliability and strong working relationships.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced Accounts & Administration Assistant to join our team on a permanent basis. This is a key role within the business, working independently and reporting directly to the Managing Director.
A full handover will be provided to ensure a smooth transition.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Ledger & Credit Control
- Raising approximately 600–700 invoices per month
- Producing monthly customer statements
- Chasing overdue payments and managing credit control
Purchase Ledger
- Processing supplier invoices
- Reconciling supplier accounts and raising queries
- Preparing and issuing supplier remittances at month end
Banking & Reconciliation
- Reconciling bank, cash, and credit card accounts
Reporting & Systems
- Compiling regular sales reports for customers, suppliers, and internal use
- Monitoring and inputting price adjustments
- Creating new product codes & BOM kits
- Producing year-end stock take reports
Accounts Administration
- Opening new customer and supplier accounts
- Reconciling debtor and creditor accounts
Finance Support
- Working with the external accountant on quarterly VAT returns and annual accounts
General Administration
- Supporting day-to-day office admin tasks, including customer communications and newsletters
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous experience in a similar accounts role essential
- AAT qualified or part-qualified (desirable)
- Strong working knowledge of Sage 50 Accounts
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUP
- Competent in Microsoft Word and Outlook
