About the Role
This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same. You’ll be serving customers at the trade counter, assisting in the yard, helping load customer vehicles, maintaining stock levels and, from time to time, making local deliveries in company vehicles.
As one of the first points of contact for our customers, you’ll play an important role in delivering outstanding customer service and helping ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the branch.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver outstanding customer service to both trade and retail customers.
- Serve customers at the trade counter and deal with telephone enquiries professionally.
- Assist customers with product selection and provide product advice where appropriate.
- Process customer orders accurately and efficiently.
- Keep the trade counter and shop floor fully stocked, clean and well presented.
- Assist customers with loading materials safely into their vehicles.
- Assist with unloading supplier deliveries, stock replenishment and general warehouse and yard duties.
- Occasionally carry out local deliveries using company vehicles.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping throughout the branch.
- Follow all Health & Safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Build strong relationships with customers and colleagues.
- Work as part of a team to ensure the branch operates efficiently every day.
About You

- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Previous experience working within a builders’ merchant or construction-related industry.
- Good knowledge of building materials and associated products.
- Counter sales or merchant experience.
- Forklift licence (or willingness to undertake training).
- Experience driving vans or light commercial vehicles.

Working Hours
- Monday to Friday
- Saturday mornings on a one in three rota.
