We are looking for a proactive and reliable Stores Operative to join our team at A K Industries in Hereford.
Working as part of our Stores team and supporting our wider manufacturing operation, you will play a key hands-on role in maintaining stock accuracy and ensuring materials, components and finished products are received, stored, issued and despatched accurately and efficiently.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with warehouse or stores experience who is organised, comfortable using computer-based systems and enjoys working as part of a small team within a busy manufacturing environment.
What You'll Be Doing
- Managing day-to-day goods-in and goods-out activities, including booking items accurately onto our ERP system, WinMan.
- Carrying out accurate picking, issuing and returning of materials and components for production (up to 25kg).
- Ensuring physical stock movements are accurately reflected on WinMan.
- Following correct FIFO procedures, part box, batch traceability and stock-control processes.
- Identifying stock, quantity or location discrepancies, correcting and raising these promptly.
- Maintaining stock accuracy through routine cycle counts and stock checks.
- Operating counterbalance forklift, reach truck and order picker equipment to move and store materials safely, with training provided where required.
- Labelling and preparing Correx boxes and materials for production.
- Supporting the Material Logistics Controllers to ensure materials are prepared and available for upcoming production requirements.
- Raising shipments with delivery partners and completing the required despatch documentation.
- Loading and unloading deliveries safely.
- Maintaining a clean, safe and well-organised Stores and CONS area.
- Working closely with Production and other departments to ensure materials are available when required.
- Following all company Health & Safety, quality and ISO 13485 procedures.
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in warehouse, stores or logistics work, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
- Accurate, organised and reliable, with strong attention to detail.
- Comfortable using computers and stock-management systems.
- Ideally experienced with ERP/MRP systems and online shipping systems.
- Able to operate, or willing to train on, counterbalance forklift, reach truck and order picker equipment.
- Proactive and willing to investigate or raise discrepancies rather than simply working around them.
- A good communicator who enjoys working as part of a small team.
- Physically able to safely undertake the requirements of a hands-on Stores role, including manual handling of items up to 25kg, with appropriate training and equipment provided.
- Flexible and willing to learn.
Working Hours
You'll work a rotating day-shift pattern:
06:00–14:00 / 09:00–17:00, Monday to Friday with a 30 minute unpaid break
You must be able to work both parts of the rotating shift pattern, with some flexibility to provide additional cover when required.
There is also some overtime available depending on business requirements, paid at 1.5 times your normal hourly rate.
