Job Purpose
As a Play Centre Assistant, you'll play a key role in ensuring every family enjoys a safe, fun and welcoming experience at Cubs Play Centre. Working across the café, reception and play areas, you'll provide excellent customer service while helping to maintain a clean, safe and well-presented environment. Reporting to the Business Owner and General Manager, you'll support the day-to-day running of the centre, assisting with café service, bookings, children's parties and general operations to ensure every visitor has a positive experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and welcome all visitors with a friendly and professional attitude.
- Provide efficient café service, including taking orders, preparing drinks, serving food and beverages, and handling payments.
- Manage reception duties, including answering telephone calls, booking play sessions and parties, processing admissions, restocking the gift shop and assisting with customer enquiries.
- Supervise and monitor the play areas, helping to ensure they remain safe, clean and enjoyable for all visitors.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the café, reception, play areas, customer toilets and all public spaces.
- Assist with setting up, hosting and clearing away children's parties and special events.
- Adhere to all health and safety, food hygiene and safeguarding policies at all times.
- Report maintenance issues, hazards or equipment faults promptly.
- Resolve customer enquiries professionally and escalate complaints where appropriate.
- Assist with stock monitoring and replenishment of café and retail supplies.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve business objectives and maintain excellent customer service standards.
- Provide cover for colleagues and work additional hours when required.
What We're Looking For
- A genuine passion for delivering excellent customer service and creating a safe, enjoyable environment for children and their families.
- Previous experience in hospitality, retail, leisure or another customer-facing role is desirable but not essential.
- A hands-on approach and willingness to support all areas of the business, including the café, reception, play areas, cleaning and parties.
- A positive, enthusiastic attitude with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A reliable, professional and approachable manner.
- Flexibility to work weekdays, weekends, school holidays and occasional evening parties.
Pay: £8.00-£12.71 per hour
