Shift Pattern: 7am until 6pm | 3 to 4 days per week
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Cook to join our Residential Care Home team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for preparing nutritious, tasty, and well-presented meals that meet the dietary needs of our residents. Your culinary expertise will contribute to creating a warm, welcoming environment where residents feel cared for and valued. Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook daily meals in accordance with dietary guidelines and residents’ individual nutritional requirements
- Plan menus that balance variety, nutrition, and resident preferences, ensuring meals are appealing and satisfying
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, adhering strictly to food safety and hygiene regulations
- Serve meals in a friendly, respectful manner, assisting residents as needed to promote independence and comfort
- Monitor stock levels of ingredients and supplies; assist with ordering to ensure the kitchen is well-equipped at all times
- Follow proper food handling procedures, including storage, sanitation, and waste disposal, to uphold health standards
- Collaborate with care staff to accommodate special diets or allergies and adapt recipes accordingly
Requirements
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or culinary roles within a residential or hospitality setting
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and best practices for hygiene and sanitation
- Experience in meal preparation for diverse dietary needs, including special diets or restrictions
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate with team members and assist residents during meal times
- Kitchen experience with familiarity in preparing nutritious meals that appeal to a wide range of tastes
- Serving experience is preferred but not essential; a positive attitude towards providing excellent resident care is vital
