Role Purpose
We are looking for a reliable and flexible Relief Driver to support our transport team during a busy period. The role involves delivering chilled food products to customers, ensuring excellent customer service while maintaining high standards of food safety, vehicle care and legal compliance.
This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys driving, working independently and providing excellent service to customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out multi-drop deliveries to customers across the South of England.
- Load and unload the vehicle safely and securely.
- Ensure deliveries are made accurately and on time.
- Complete delivery paperwork or electronic proof of delivery.
- Conduct daily vehicle safety checks before each journey.
- Keep the vehicle clean and report any defects immediately.
- Comply with all road traffic legislation, drivers' hours and company procedures.
- Maintain chilled food temperatures throughout deliveries.
- Provide courteous and professional customer service.
- Follow all health and safety and food hygiene procedures.
Essential Requirements
- Full UK driving licence.
- Maximum of 6 penalty points (no DR, DD or IN endorsements).
- Previous experience driving 3.5 tonne refrigerated vans.
- Good geographical knowledge and ability to use satellite navigation.
- Physically fit and able to lift and move boxes safely.
- Reliable, punctual and trustworthy.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage delivery schedules.
- Right to work in the UK.
Desirable
- Previous multi-drop delivery experience within the food industry.
- Food hygiene awareness.
- Experience using handheld delivery devices.
- Forklift licence (advantage but not essential).

Typical Working Pattern
- Average 3 days per week (days to be agreed in advance).
- Early starts (typically between 5:00 am and 6:00 am) depending on delivery routes.
- Finish times vary according to route completion.
- Experience handling chilled food products.
- Careful handling of high-value products such as venison, dairy and fine foods.
- Maintaining the cold chain at all times.
- Representing the company professionally when visiting restaurants, hotels, farm shops and retail customers.
- Being willing to assist in the warehouse if deliveries finish early.
