At OATIS, we’re all about whole ingredients, thoughtful food, and creating something special as a small, close-knit team. We’re looking for a Kitchen Leader who leads from the front, takes pride in the details, and isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves.
This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced environment, where no task is too small — from running service to washing dishes, you set the standard for the team every day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook food using high-quality ingredients to OATIS standards
- Ensure every dish leaving the pass is consistent, accurate, and on brand
- Lead the kitchen team day-to-day, including assigning breaks and supporting service flow
- Take full ownership of BOH operations in the absence of the Site Manager
- Maintain exceptional cleanliness and organisation, leading by example at all times (including dishwashing, mise en place , opening and closing)
- Ensure all due diligence is completed accurately and consistently
- Carry out and oversee health & safety checks, including fire safety compliance
- Support stock control, ordering, and minimising waste
- Be flexible and proactive — including stepping in to cover sickness or gaps in the rota
- Liaise closely with the Site Manager on equipment maintenance, training, and kitchen improvements
- Contribute to product testing and development of seasonal menu items
Experience & Skills Required:
- Strong experience in a café or restaurant kitchen
- Confident leading a team in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
- Solid understanding of food safety, due diligence, and compliance standards
- High personal standards for cleanliness, organisation, and food quality
- Proactive, reliable, and solutions-focused mindset
- Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
- A genuine passion for food and interest in seasonal, ingredient-led menus
