Service Engineer – Injection Moulding Machinery
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Service Engineer to join our growing engineering team. This is a varied role combining workshop-based refurbishment with customer site visits across the UK and Ireland. The successful candidate will be responsible for commissioning, servicing, fault finding, repairs, and customer training on injection moulding machinery.
The role requires flexibility, as it includes both in-house engineering work and travel to customer sites, with occasional overnight stays.
Service Engineer – Injection Moulding Machinery Key Responsibilities
- Commission new and refurbished injection moulding machines at customer sites.
- Carry out planned servicing, maintenance, and repairs on injection moulding machinery.
- Diagnose and rectify electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and electronic faults.
- Install, commission, and provide operator training on machinery and automation equipment (full product training provided).
- Refurbish and prepare used injection moulding machines within the workshop.
- Provide technical support to customers as required.
- Complete service reports and maintain accurate maintenance records.
- Deliver a high standard of customer service while representing the business professionally.
Service Engineer – Injection Moulding Machinery - About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven experience working with injection moulding machinery or closely related industrial equipment.
- Strong fault-finding skills across electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and electronic systems.
- A practical, hands-on approach with excellent problem-solving abilities.
- The ability to work independently and manage customer relationships professionally.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- A full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to travel throughout the UK and Ireland, including occasional overnight stays.
Experience working with ancillary plastics processing equipment or industrial automation is advantageous but not essential.
Working Pattern
The role is based from a workshop in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, with regular travel to customer sites throughout the UK and Ireland.
Travel requirements vary depending on workload. Some weeks may involve several days on customer sites, while others may be entirely workshop-based, carrying out refurbishment and preparation of machinery for resale.
Training and Development
Comprehensive product-specific training will be provided, including mentoring from experienced engineers during the initial months. Ongoing technical support and opportunities for further professional development are available, including manufacturer training where appropriate.
