We are seeking an experienced Plumbing and Heating Engineer to join our team on a permanent subcontract basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing and heating systems across residential and commercial properties. This role requires technical expertise, reliability, and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, service, and repair plumbing and heating systems, including boilers, radiators, and pipework.
- Diagnose and resolve faults efficiently.
- Ensure compliance with building regulations and health & safety standards.
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain professional conduct.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Plumbing and Heating Engineer.
- Relevant qualifications (NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent).
- Gas Safe registration (preferred).
- Own tools, transport, and liability insurance.
- Strong problem-solving and time management skills.
Contract Details:
- Permanent subcontract position.
- Salary: £180–£200 per day, depending on experience.
- London rates £230-£260 per day, depending on experience.
- Ongoing work with opportunities for long-term collaboration.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Installation Work
- Install plumbing systems including pipework, fixtures, and fittings.
- Fit and commission heating systems such as boilers, radiators, and underfloor heating.
- Carry out bathroom and kitchen installations where required.
- Maintenance and Repairs
- Diagnose and repair faults in plumbing and heating systems.
- Perform routine servicing of boilers and heating appliances.
- Respond to emergency call-outs for leaks, breakdowns, or heating failures.
- Compliance and Safety
- Ensure all work complies with current building regulations and Gas Safe standards.
- Conduct safety checks and issue relevant certificates where applicable.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment on-site.
- Customer Service
- Communicate effectively with clients to explain work required and provide updates.
- Deliver high-quality workmanship and maintain professional standards.
- Provide advice on energy efficiency and system upgrades.
- Administrative Tasks
- Complete job sheets and maintain accurate records of work carried out.
- Manage own schedule and coordinate with other trades when necessary.
Requirements
- Experience & Skills
- Proven experience in plumbing and heating installation, maintenance, and repair.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage own workload.
- Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2/3 in Plumbing or equivalent.
- Gas Safe registration (preferred but not always essential).
- Knowledge of current building regulations and safety standards.
- Tools & Equipment
- Must have own tools and equipment.
- Reliable transport for travel to job sites.
