Bartender
Title: Floor / Bartender
Department: Front of House
Reports To: Assistant Manager/ General Manager
Job Summary
In conjunction with the Manager, the Bartender will ensure that the Bar operates efficiently and profitably whilst maintaining our reputation and ethos. They will co-ordinate a variety of activities, whilst maintaining high standards of beverage service customer service and health and safety and combine strategic planning and organisation to ensure the smooth management of the Bar area on a day-to-day basis.
Main Duties
- To maintain a high degree of interest in self-development, displaying this by making realistic recommendations.
- To clean agreed designated areas, in accordance with laid-down procedures, morning and evening routines and hygiene requirements.
- To set tables to laid-down standards, ensuring that all items used are clean, undamaged and
- To maintain the keg cellar and follow the correct procedure when preparing ale or lager for service.
- To maintain high standards of morale and personal appearance of all pub staff.
- To be aware of all statutory regulations affecting safety and ensure that any safety hazard is rectified.
- To help ensure that all stocks and supplies are requested on a timely basis, correct stock levels maintained and stored under optimum conditions.

- To set the bar to laid-down standards, ensuring that all items used are clean, undamaged and in a good state of repair.
- To ensure stations are adequately stocked with products ready for service.
- To take food and beverage orders from customers and ensure these are placed on the computer correctly.
- To be totally familiar with the composition of all menu items.
- To serve food and beverages in accordance with laid-down standards, but above all in a professional, courteous manner.
- To clean all bar service and storage surfaces, pub tables and ensure they are cleaned as soon as it is apparent that customers have finished their food or drink with an acceptable balance between speed yet allowing customers to finish their meal/drinks without feeling rushed.
- To ensure that customers are correctly charged, presented the bill and take payment from the customer, in accordance with the procedures of the establishment.
- At all times to be aware of and practise good customer relations, assisting the guest in any way which does not adversely affect other customers.
- To deal with any customer complaints in the absence of the manager on duty.
- To report any suspicious packages or parcels to management without delay.
- To take part in any fire or evacuation drills and ensure complete familiarisation with all exits, including those normally used by customers, as well as fire escapes.
- To carry out on-the-job training to ensure subordinate staff can carry out their duties
- effectively.
- To be continually aware of, and maintain, the highest standards of personal hygiene and
