A friendly family in Crouch End (N8) is looking for a warm, organised and reliable person to join us in. a flexible hybrid role combining after-school childcare for our five-year-old son with household assistance and home organisation. We're open on the exact job title — the role sits somewhere between a household assistant/house manager and a nanny, and we'd love to find one person who can comfortably do both.
Hours & pay
- 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday — typically built around school drop-off and pick-up (e.g. 8am–12pm or 1pm–6pm shifts, by agreement).
- £18–£22 per hour gross, depending on experience (approx. £23,400–£28,600 per year gross at 25 hours/week).
- Permanent, live-out, daily role. Immediate start preferred.
Childcare (the most important part)
The childcare side is more school runs and childminding than a full career-nanny role:
- Taking our son to school in the morning and collecting him in the afternoon.
- Taking him to after-school activities and being with him until early evening.
- During school holidays, providing engaged, hands-on daytime care.
- Sole-charge confidence is essential — we will be away for two weeks in mid-August, during which you would be the main adult in the house.
Household & organisation
We've recently moved and are renovating, so during term-time school hours (and quieter holiday moments) there is plenty to get stuck into:
- Unpacking boxes and setting up rooms.
- Organising the kitchen, wardrobes and basement.
- Shelving books, filing records and general home admin/PA tasks.
- Being a steady, trusted presence in the house — we'd rather have one great person than lots of different people coming and going.
About you
- Solid childcare experience with school-age children (formal nanny qualifications welcome but not essential — reliability, warmth and common sense matter more).
- Enhanced DBS check and excellent, checkable references (or willingness to obtain).
- Highly organised, proactive and happy to switch between childcare and household tasks.
- Based in or near North London (Crouch End, Highgate, Muswell Hill, Finsbury Park, Islington and surrounds ideal, given school runs).
- Right to work in the UK.
How the role evolves
It's currently the school holidays, so the first weeks will be a mix of childcare and household organisation. From September, the rhythm settles into school runs and after-school care, with household management and PA duties during the school day. This is a permanent, ongoing position for the right person.
To apply: please send a short introduction, your CV and two references. We're keen to move quickly and can arrange interviews immediately.
Pay: £18.00-£22.00 per hour
