Contract: Fixed-term (Maternity Cover) – 12 months
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Garment Technologist to join our team on a maternity cover contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the technical development of garments from initial design through to production, ensuring products meet quality, fit, construction, and performance standards while adhering to critical path deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage garment from prototype through to bulk production.
- Review and approve fit samples, size sets, pre-production samples, and production samples.
- Measure garments against specifications and provide clear, accurate technical comments to suppliers.
- Work closely with Design, Buying, Merchandising, and Production teams to achieve the desired fit and quality.
- Create and maintain technical specifications, grading, and construction details.
- Identify and resolve technical and quality issues throughout the product development process.
- Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure technical requirements are understood and implemented.
- Ensure garments comply with relevant safety, legal, and quality standards.
- Monitor product testing requirements and review test reports.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and fit consistency.
- Maintain accurate records and manage workload in line with seasonal critical paths.
- Upload data onto the multiple online platforms
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Experience across menswear and childrenswear
- Previous experience as a Garment Technologist within the fashion or apparel industry.
- Strong knowledge of garment construction, pattern cutting, grading, and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent understanding of fit analysis and garment measurement.
- Experience working with overseas suppliers and manufacturers.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to prioritise multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Desirable
- Experience across womenswear
- Knowledge of garment testing and compliance requirements.
- Experience using PLM, IS, Lighthouse or other online systems.
