Kingston and Richmond NHS Foundation Trust offers a range of fantastic opportunities to grow your career across both hospital and community settings in south London. Whether you're looking to build new skills or take your experience to the next level, we are uniquely placed to provide the right environment to support your professional development. With colleagues working in people’s homes, in community clinics, and in our two hospitals, we have an outstanding breadth of knowledge and experience to draw from.
Our commitment to exceptional care is reflected in being the first trust of our kind in London to achieve an ‘Outstanding’ rating from the CQC for both overall quality and leadership. We exist to provide the best possible care for our patients and we do that by giving our colleagues what they need to be their best at work. We have won numerous awards from the HSJ and Nursing Times for the way we support our colleagues across all our services.
We are proud to be recognised for our outstanding cancer care, children's services, pioneering surgical teams, and exceptional rehabilitation services. Our maternity services have been rated the "Best in London" by women surveyed by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), with parents travelling to Kingston to take advantage of our considerable experience and expertise.

- Inclusive: We embrace diversity and respect the unique contributions of every individual.
- Collaborative: We foster teamwork across all levels, working together and with our partners to deliver the best outcomes.

The post holder as a member of the Clinical Transfusion Team is responsible for assisting with the provision of a clinical transfusion service across the Trust, and for ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to a large cohort of patients so that that the needs of the patient are placed at the centre of care delivery.
The post holder will contribute to the provision of education for nursing, medical and multi-disciplinary staff in the management of patients receiving blood transfusion, and in ensuring that agreed guidelines and
protocols are followed satisfactorily.
The Blood Transfusion Practitioner role involves acting as a resource, providing advice and support for all staff across the Trust, and visiting clinical areas and liaising with staff in an investigative, advisory, and

policies, and the investigation and reporting of incidents and complaints.
1. To act in an advisory role to promote the safe and effective use of blood components and investigate ways of reducing blood component use and wastage, as a key member of the Trust’s Hospital
Transfusion Committee (HTC) and Hospital Transfusion Team (HTT): This includes supporting and promoting the use of alternatives to transfusion and blood conservation techniques.
2. To promote understanding of the transfusion process across the Trust and to communicate changes in both expected practice and blood components to all clinical staff, whilst acting as a liaison between the blood transfusion laboratory and clinical staff (and other staff groups), as appropriate.
3. To be a visible presence in clinical areas to ensure that the clinical area is supported to achieve safe transfusion practice.
