Abbevilles Bike Café is an exciting new social enterprise combining expert bike repairs with an on-site café, creating opportunities for people facing barriers to employment to gain valuable skills and work experience.
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Bike Mechanic to help shape and launch our brand-new workshop in Clapham. This is a rare opportunity to set up a workshop your way, influence systems and processes from day one, and play a key role in training the next generation of mechanics.
Once open, you’ll deliver high-quality bike servicing, repairs and diagnostics across a wide range of bikes, including e-bikes, while supporting junior staff and volunteers in developing their skills.
What you’ll be doing:

Helping complete the workshop fit-out, including tools and equipment setup

Carrying out servicing, repairs and diagnostics to a high standard

Working on a wide range of bikes, including e-bikes

Supporting and guiding junior mechanics and volunteers

Helping create training programmes for new mechanics

Maintaining workshop safety, efficiency and quality standards

Supporting community outreach events such as Dr Bike sessions
What we’re looking for:

At least 2 years’ experience in a bike workshop

Strong diagnostic and repair skills across a range of bike types

Confidence with hydraulic brakes, wheel building, suspension and gear systems

A passion for cycling and sharing your knowledge with others

An interest in supporting people facing barriers to employment
