Job Summary
We are looking for friendly, reliable and enthusiastic Front of House Assistants to join the team at Tastes of Tomatin.
This is a customer-facing role within our busy café, with occasional support in the shop when required. You will help provide a welcoming, efficient service to customers while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, presentation and teamwork throughout the day.
We are recruiting for multiple permanent positions, with flexible hours available. Previous hospitality, café or retail experience is strongly preferred, but not essential, as training can be provided for the right candidates.
Responsibilities
- Welcome customers and provide friendly, efficient service throughout their visit
- Take customer orders and serve food and drinks promptly and accurately
- Prepare and serve coffees and other hot drinks
- Operate the till and handle cash and card payments
- Clear and clean tables during service
- Wash crockery, glassware and other Front of House items as required
- Restock café supplies and customer-facing areas throughout the day
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and presentation across the café
- Complete routine Front of House cleaning duties
- Support colleagues during busy periods and help maintain an efficient service
- Respond to straightforward customer queries and requests, referring more complex issues to a supervisor or manager
- Provide occasional support within the shop when required
- Assist with age-restricted sales where appropriately trained and authorised
- Follow all relevant food hygiene, health and safety and workplace procedures
The role does not include food preparation or cooking.
Experience and Skills
- Previous café, hospitality or retail experience is strongly preferred but not essential
- Barista experience is desirable, although training can be provided
- Friendly and confident when dealing with customers
- Reliable and punctual
- Comfortable working in a busy environment
- Able to work well as part of a team
- Good communication skills
- Willing to help across different Front of House duties when required
- Able to maintain high standards of customer service, cleanliness and presentation throughout the shift
Due to our location and limited public transport, applicants must have a reliable means of travelling to and from Tomatin.
Regular weekend working is required, although we aim to organise rotas so that staff receive full weekends off where possible.
