About the role
We are seeking to increase our Participation team with the inclusion of an additional fixed term post until 31st march 2027. The vacancy is for a SEND Inclusion Ambassador and the successful candidate will join our Youth Service and Participation team to increase and widen the offer for a short term whilst specific project work is on going. The role will involve direct work with young people and partners to ensure the voice of SEND young people in Bury is heard and they are involved as equitable partners in the design and implementation of services which affect them. This exciting role is firmly embedded in the ethos of participation and co-production and involves creating group sessions and schemes of work to encouarge young person invovlement, so they are able to share their views and included when stratagic decisison making occurs. We are seeking candidates who have experience of and excel in understanding need, and have the skills required to empower young people, increase participation, organise and plan relevant voice work activty and drive services forward. The role involves face to face work with young people but also requires a professional partnership approach to support wider services in understanding the importance of co-production and participation and the skill to create reports to translate views to ensure stakeholders are fully aware and able to embed voice work into service design and delivery.
The successful candidate will be part of a staff team working within our new Adolescent Service, using the principles and practices of informal education and community development to make positive changes in the lives of young people.
The position available is full time (37hrs), fixed term until the end of this financial year, to start straight away. The role will also involve some evening and weekend work to meet the needs of the cohort of young people and the formal regional and national democratic, participation responsibility. You will be based in Bury (Elizabethan Suite, Bury Town hall) however travel around the borough will be required, with travel to GM to support young people regionally at times.
