About The Role
About the roles
We are currently recruiting for multiple Engineering Technician opportunities within our London Container Terminal Engineering (LCTE) team at the Port of Tilbury.
We have opportunities across both Electrical and Mechanical disciplines, with vacancies for Shift Technicians and Service Technicians
This is an opportunity to join a dedicated engineering team responsible for the planned and reactive maintenance of a wide range of terminal equipment, including Straddle Carriers, Ship-to-Shore Container Cranes and other operational plant.
You'll play an important role in maintaining equipment reliability and availability, responding to faults and breakdowns, and supporting the safe and efficient operation of the terminal.
The opportunities available
Shift Technician – Electrical / Mechanical
Our Shift Technicians provide engineering support across the London Container Terminal, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, fault diagnosis and repairs across terminal equipment.

42 hours per week

4 on 4 off shift pattern – 2 days / 2 nights, including weekends
Service Technician – Electrical / Mechanical
Our Service Technicians are primarily responsible for planned maintenance, defect repairs and supporting the reliability and availability of terminal equipment.

42 hours per week

4 on 4 off day shift pattern
Both opportunities require a practical, hands-on approach to engineering and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
What we're looking for
We are interested in hearing from experienced engineering professionals with a background in electrical or mechanical maintenance, particularly those with experience working with industrial, mobile or heavy plant.
Electrical
For our electrical opportunities, experience in the following would be beneficial:

Electrical fault-finding and diagnostics across industrial or mobile plant

AC drive systems, electric motors and inverter drives

PLC systems and fault diagnosis

Electrical safety and safe working practices
-
Industrial maintenance and repair
Experience with Siemens S7, CODESYS, Omron, Siemens, Danfoss or Control Techniques systems would be advantageous.
Mechanical
For our mechanical opportunities, experience in the following would be beneficial:

Mechanical fault-finding and diagnostics across industrial or mobile plant

Hydraulic systems

Diesel engine power units and engine diagnostics

Preventative and reactive mechanical maintenance

Mechanical fitting and repair
Experience with Volvo Penta or Sisu power units, welding and fabrication, turning, hot works or wire rope inspection would be advantageous.
Essential Qualifications

Level 3 NVQ, ONC or HNC in an engineering-related discipline

Completed a recognised engineering apprenticeship

Good communication skills and attention to detail

The ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team
