This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a meaningful and rewarding project from the outset. We’re developing a Learning Disability Children’s Home in Bretby and are seeking a passionate Registered Manager who share our commitment to improving children’s lives.
You’ll play a key role in designing, furnishing and setting up the new home, joining a supportive, friendly team with excellent pay and benefits.
Ideal for an experienced Registered Manager or a Deputy Manager/Frontline Leader ready to step up, this role comes with full backing from hands-on Directors with extensive sector experience.
Please note: A minimum of 3 years’ experience in residential childcare within the past 5 years is required for OFSTED registration.
Job Purpose:
- Lead day-to-day operations of the Children’s Home, ensuring full compliance with OFSTED standards.
- Manage the staff team and deliver person-centred support to young people with disabilities.
- Participate in the 24-hour on-call rota and act as Designated Safeguarding Lead
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the home meets OFSTED standards and Children’s Homes Regulations, promoting positive outcomes.
- Collaborate with senior management on service planning and continuous improvement.
- Oversee health and safety and implement robust Person-Centred Plans.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment.
- Provide effective staff management, including rotas, meetings, supervision and support.
- Manage budgets and ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
- Undertake training, attend reviews and maintain confidentiality.
Professional Development
- Complete induction and mandatory training.
- Build strong relationships with staff and young people.
- Engage in ongoing development and annual reviews.
Qualifications & Requirements
- An NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare is required. A Level 5 Diploma is desirable, but candidates must be willing to complete it.
- Eligible to register with OFSTED.
- English and Maths at GCSE level (or equivalent).
Knowledge & Experience
- Sound understanding of Children’s Homes Regulations (2015) and the Social Care Common Inspection Framework.
- Senior-level experience working with children and/or adults with disabilities.
- Strong grasp of operational management and relevant legislation.
Skills & Attributes
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.
- Confident in decision-making, mentoring and coaching.
- Proficient in ICT and able to respond effectively in emergencies.
- Physically able to support children and young people.
- Positive, inclusive, and committed to safeguarding children with disabilities.
