We are looking for a compassionate, reliable and enthusiastic Support Worker to join a dedicated team supporting a wonderful young boy with a brain injury, learning difficulties and epilepsy.
This is a rewarding opportunity to have a genuine impact on a child's life by helping him build confidence, develop independence and enjoy meaningful experiences both at home and within the community.
He is a 14-year-old boy, happy, engaging child who enjoys sensory-based activities, outdoor adventures and exploring the world around him going into the community to parks, sensory exploration, theme parks, farms and water play. At home, he loves interacting with sensory toys, remote control cars, music, cause and effect-based activities and using his touch-screen television. He enjoys going out on the bus and on trains so therefore driving is not essential to access the community. We are seeking someone who can match his energy, encourage his development and provide consistent, high-quality support.
The ideal candidate will be active, patient and able to communicate clearly and effectively. A full UK driving license is preferable but not essential, as the role involves attending appointments, activities and community outings.
· Provide person-centred support tailored to the child's individual needs and goals
· Encourage independence, confidence and social development through positive interactions
· Support participation in community activities, helping him access local facilities and opportunities
· Help identify and access suitable local resources that support learning and integration and support educational activities, including life skills, literacy and numeracy where appropriate
· Promote emotional wellbeing through encouragement, consistency and positive role modelling
· Work closely with family members, respecting their knowledge and role in his care
· Liaise with healthcare professionals, therapists and other support staff, reporting concerns appropriately
· Safely administer medication and monitor wellbeing
· Support personal care needs with dignity and respect
· Ensure dietary and hydration needs are met throughout the day
· Maintain a safe, clean and supportive environment
· Assist in developing and reviewing support plans
· Accompany him to appointments, activities and community outings
· Maintain accurate records and documentation
· Follow safeguarding procedures and best practice at all times
· Complete all required training and development activities
· Experience supporting children, young people or vulnerable adults
· A genuine passion for helping others reach their full potential
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· A patient, caring and empathetic approach
· Confidence in supporting learning, development and independence
· Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently
· Flexibility and adaptability to meet changing needs
· A commitment to safeguarding, dignity and person-centred care
This is more than a support role – it's an opportunity to build a meaningful relationship with a child and play a vital part in helping him enjoy life, achieve his goals and reach his potential.
If you are caring, motivated and looking for a rewarding role where every day makes a difference, we would love to hear from you.
