About the Role
Due to continued growth and acquisition activity, our rapidly expanding network of builders’ merchants is seeking a commercially focused Management Accountant and Business Performance Analyst to support performance improvement across the Group.
This is a highly visible and strategic role, reporting directly to the Group Finance Director. The successful candidate will work closely with operational teams and senior leadership to monitor performance, identify opportunities for improvement and help drive best practice across multiple businesses.
As an acquisitive organisation, you will also play a key role in assessing potential acquisitions, analysing financial performance and presenting commercial insights and recommendations to the Board.
This position requires a balance of strong technical accounting ability and commercial awareness, alongside a hands-on, practical approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce accurate and timely management accounts across multiple entities
- Analyse financial and operational performance, identifying trends and improvement opportunities
- Develop meaningful KPIs and performance dashboards
- Provide clear financial insight and commentary to the management team
- Support budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management
- Assess potential acquisition targets, including financial analysis and performance evaluation
- Support post-acquisition integration and performance monitoring
- Work closely with branch and operational managers to drive commercial performance
- Promote best practice across the Group
Candidate Requirements
- Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Minimum 5 years’ accounting experience (preferred)
- Strong analytical and commercial mindset
- Confident presenter, able to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders
- Practical, hands-on approach – comfortable working within operational environments
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal skills – able to build relationships across the business
- Knowledge of the building materials or merchanting sector highly desirable

- Regular travel across Group locations required
