Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Weekend Work: Currently required every other weekend

Van Fit Solutions is the UK’s specialist in truly bespoke vehicle storage systems.
Based in Middlesbrough, we design, manufacture and install completely bespoke storage solutions for vans, pickups and specialist vehicles.
We do not install standard kits, modular shelving or off-the-shelf layouts. Every system is designed and handcrafted around the customer’s vehicle, tools, equipment, trade and daily workflow.
We are looking for a skilled, reliable and detail-focused Carpenter / Vehicle Storage Fitter to join our growing workshop team.
The Role
You will manufacture and install high-quality vehicle storage systems, including:
- Bespoke van racking and shelving
- False-floor systems
- Heavy-duty drawer units
- Tool and equipment storage
- Pickup storage systems
- Mobile workshop installations
- Flooring, rubber finishes and carpet lining
Every project is different, so you must be comfortable working without standard templates and adapting each build to meet the customer’s individual requirements.
Key Duties
- Manufacture and install bespoke storage systems for commercial vehicles
- Measure, mark and cut plywood, timber and sheet materials accurately
- Build false floors, drawers, racking, shelving and storage compartments
- Use hand tools, power tools and workshop machinery safely
- Work carefully around vehicle interiors and bodywork
- Adapt designs during the build to accommodate tools and equipment
- Follow workshop instructions and customer specifications
- Complete installations within agreed timescales
- Conduct quality-control and finishing checks
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment
- Work independently and as part of the wider workshop team
Skills and Experience
- Previous carpentry, joinery or cabinet-making experience
- Strong practical and problem-solving abilities
- Confident using saws, routers, drills, sanders, nail guns and workshop equipment
- Ability to measure and cut materials accurately
- Experience working with plywood, timber and sheet materials
- Excellent attention to detail and finishing standards
- Ability to work efficiently without compromising quality
- Physically capable of lifting materials and working inside vehicles
- Reliable, organised and able to meet deadlines
- Full UK driving licence desirable
Experience in van conversions, van racking, coachbuilding, commercial vehicle fit-outs or automotive interiors would be beneficial, but it is not essential.
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday
- 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
- Weekend work is currently required every other weekend
- Finish times may occasionally run beyond 5:00 PM depending on the job and workload
- Additional hours may be available
- All work is completed at our Middlesbrough facility
Pay
£15.00–£20.00 per hour, depending on experience, ability and the standard of workmanship demonstrated.
What We Are Looking For
This is not a repetitive factory assembly role.
We need someone who takes genuine pride in their work, has a keen eye for detail and can think practically when faced with different vehicles, tools and storage requirements.
Every Van Fit Solutions installation is built from scratch. You must be capable of producing consistently high-quality work while operating efficiently in a busy workshop environment.
No standard kits. No generic layouts. Every build is completely bespoke.
