About Wemyss Lodge:
Wemyss Lodge is a friendly, welcoming care home in Swindon, Wiltshire, that has an excellent team who work well together. We have 56 beds providing nursing, respite, dementia, mental health and complex care. We are within easy reach of shops and local amenities, and easy access to public transport.
We are recruiting for an Activities Coordinator
Hours - 9am-5pm to include an element of weekend working
We are seeking enthusiastic, fun and caring staff to join our Activities Team.
Main aims of the role
- To help create stimulating activity program to enhance the quality of life for each resident within the home in a person centred approach.
- To organise and coordinate activities for active daily living for each resident individually and in groups, also on 1-1 basis.
- To identify the needs of the collective group, and individuals, and tailor the activities to suit them.
- To advertise the planned program in an appropriate manner which will encourage involvement of all staff, residents and relatives. This to include, daily, weekly and monthly planner.
- To plan external outings giving consideration to safety needs and staffing requirements.
- Liase with staff, relatives and friends of residents to ensure full knowledge of the residents likes and dislikes, interests, ability and difficulties.
- Explore the most appropriate methods and resources for meeting activity needs, including group events, individual sessions, involving internal and external sources, and involving community based resources.
- Organise theme and fund raising events as required based on local holidays, traditions.
- Some events may be outside of your normal working hours, and it is expected that you will attend these, as and when appropriate.
Necessary Skills/Requirements
- Care qualifications such as NVQ is highly desirable
- I.T knowledge and experience to enable you to create posters, newsletters, notices and deal with emails
- Ability to document resident participation/notes
- Experience of planning events/outings
- Highly organised and self motivated
- Friendly and professional manner
- Team Player
