Job Title: Personal Assistant

About the Role:
We are looking for a kind, dedicated and reliable Personal Assistant to support a working age gentleman who is living with a complex neurological condition alongside fibromyalgia. The condition causes sight loss, occasional seizures and some mobility issues due to poor balance. The fibromyalgia causes pain and extreme tiredness on some days. Your role will be to support this man to be as independent as possible and to enjoy getting out and about in the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Community Access: Accompanying to appointments, social activities, and shopping. This includes driving to the Stroke Centre in Holmewood, Chesterfield every Friday morning and collecting at the end of the afternoon.
- Companionship: Good sense of humour essential. This man does not want or need to feel ‘cared for’ it is important that the relationship is built on respect and trust and you are willing to work flexibly to build and maintain a good relationship.
- Personal Care: Although he is mostly independent there will be support needed and assistance for washing, dressing, and personal hygiene.
- Medication Support: Administering or prompting for medication as required (full training provided).
- Domestic Duties: Supporting the man to maintain his role at home while his wife is at work this might include: light housework, laundry and meal preparation.
Essential Requirements:
- A compassionate, patient, and reliable nature.
- Excellent communication and listening skills.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle with business insurance
- Previous care experience is welcome but not essential, it is more important that you have a willingness to learn about how to work in a person-centred way and provide the best care for this man and his family. Full training and ongoing support given
- Willing to support with new activities as confidence builds
- Pet friendly as the family have a dog
- Willing to have a DBS check and provide 2 references if you are offered this role.
