Deputy Manager – Children’s Residential Home

Salary: Up to £42,000 per year
Sleep-In: £55 per sleep-in
Hours: Full-time

About the Role
Next Steps Children's Care is a new, child-centred residential childcare provider committed to creating safe, nurturing and therapeutic environments for children and young people.
We are looking for an experienced Deputy Manager to join our first home in Castle Donington.
This is a solo therapeutic children's home, providing highly individualised care and support to a child with complex emotional, behavioural and/or learning needs. The home operates with a high staffing ratio and a strong focus on relationship-based, trauma-informed care.
You will work closely with the Registered Manager to lead the team, maintain high standards of care and safeguarding, and ensure the home provides a stable and positive environment where children can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Registered Manager with the day-to-day running of the home.
- Lead and motivate the residential childcare team.
- Take responsibility for the home in the Registered Manager's absence.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with children and young people.
- Ensure care is delivered in line with individual care plans and therapeutic approaches.
- Support staff through supervision, development and reflective practice.
- Maintain high standards of safeguarding, recording and regulatory compliance.
- Contribute to audits, quality assurance and the ongoing development of the home.
- Work effectively with social workers, families, education and other professionals.
- Support rota planning and the smooth operation of the home.
- Lead by example and promote a positive team culture.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced as a Senior Residential Support Worker or Deputy Manager within a children's residential setting.
- Qualified to Level 3 in Residential Childcare or equivalent.
- Experienced in safeguarding and supporting children with complex needs.
- Confident leading and developing a small team.
- Calm, resilient and confident in challenging situations.
- Passionate about trauma-informed, child-centred care.
- Able to build strong, professional relationships with children and young people.
- Organised, reliable and committed to maintaining high standards.
- A full UK driving licence holder.
