About the Role
Priorclave Ltd is seeking a recent graduate whom has aspirations to become a manager. The role will take full responsibility for the operation and compliance of our calibration laboratory.
This is an interesting hands-on role requiring ownership of the laboratory’s ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation, including maintaining compliance, managing audits, and ensuring all technical activities meet required standards. The role also involves practical engineering support, including assisting with the repair, maintenance, and development of various forms of equipment. Full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- To take full ownership of the laboratory’s ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation, ensuring ongoing compliance and audit readiness
- Lead and manage a team of a calibration technician, including training, supervision, and competency management
- Oversee calibration activities for temperature sensors and timers used in autoclave validation
- Develop, maintain, and review measurement uncertainty budgets for all relevant calibration activities
- Organise and participate in Interlaboratory Comparisons (ILCs) and proficiency testing schemes
- Maintain and improve laboratory procedures, methods, and documentation
- Support and lead internal and external audits (including UKAS assessments)
- Work closely with and report directly to the Operations Director
- Ensure full traceability of all reference standards and calibration equipment
- Actively support the repair, maintenance, and development of laboratory equipment and instrumentation
- Oversee the calibration of instruments used by engineers to validate Priorclave autoclaves
About You
- Strong, working knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025, with experience of accreditation
- Understanding of uncertainty budgets
- Understanding of participation requirements of ILCs / proficiency testing
- Hands-on technical capability, with willingness to support equipment repair and development
- Experience calibrating temperature and/or timing instrumentation
- Familiarity with ISO 17025/ ISO9001 quality systems
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Confident communicator, with willingness to grow within the role.
Qualifications
- STEM degree OR significant experience in a calibration/accredited laboratory.
