We are thrilled to be offering two exciting one-year traineeships, working 4 days a week. These placements will provide the opportunity to join our Reserves Management team and gain a diverse range of practical conservation experience, including calcareous grassland management, heathland management and conservation grazing, whilst developing a range of transferable skills.
The roles will involve mostly working outdoors, and no two days will be the same. There may also be the opportunity to develop your own interests and gain experience with different teams, such as Grazing, Education, Communities and Nature Based Solutions.
The trainee scheme will provide the chance to lead groups of practical conservation volunteers and be part of a team that truly cares about the environment. You would get the opportunity to undertake a selection of funded external and internal training, including First Aid, Brushcutter and Chainsaw courses (or suitable equivalents).
Applicants should have some previous experience of successfully working with volunteers and the ability to inspire others about nature conservation. You should also have an understanding of the skills required in countryside and habitat management. We are looking for passionate individuals who are seeking that first step into their career in conservation.
Please note, a driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential as our locations cannot all be easily accessed by public transport.
We are committed to having an inclusive and diverse workplace and encourage applications from backgrounds which may be underrepresented in our sector. We aim to offer an interview to all candidates that meet the essential criteria for the post. Please let us know if you require any adjustment to make our recruitment process more accessible.
Interviews will take place in person on the week commencing 7th September and will include undertaking practical tasks as well as a formal interview.
Please apply using the application form below and send to Ben Carter: [email protected] by 21 August 2026.
