We are looking for a confident leader to join our team as a Duty Manager at Horwich Leisure Centre. With a passion for health, wellbeing, and customer service this role will lead the daily operations of our busy leisure centre and inspire our people to deliver great experiences.
About the Job
As Duty Manager, you’ll be responsible for the smooth running of the facility during your shift. You’ll lead a team, ensure high standards across the centre, and create a safe, welcoming environment for everyone who walks through our doors.
This is a varied, hands-on role where you’ll be involved in everything from staff supervision to customer care and health & safety compliance.
What You Will Do
- Oversee the day-to-day operation of the leisure centre.
- Lead, motivate, and support a team of staff across different departments.
- Ensure health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
- Act as the first point of contact for incidents, emergencies, and customer issues.
- Deliver excellent customer service and handle feedback professionally.
- Support staff training, rotas, and performance standards.
- Carry out opening and closing procedures, including cash handling.
What We Are Looking For

You’ll have:
- Proven experience in a supervisory or management role (ideally within leisure or hospitality)
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities
- Calm, professional approach under pressure
- Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends
Essential:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a supervisory/management role within leisure, fitness or a service-led environment.
- Strong understanding of health and safety and service delivery.
- Experience leading and motivating teams.
- National Pool Lifeguard (NPLQ) qualification (or commitment to obtain within the first 3 months)
- Pool Plant Operator qualification.
- First Aid at Work/AED qualification.
Desirable:
- Relevnt Sports/Leisure management qualification.
- Income and expenditure budget planning.
- Staff management/supervision experience.
