We are seeking a skilled and passionate Cook/Chef to join our Health team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality dishes, supervising kitchen staff, and ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen. This role offers an exciting opportunity for individuals with a strong background in food production, culinary arts, and team management to contribute to a vibrant hospitality environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate leadership, knowledge of budgeting, food safety expertise, a commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences and a knowledge of IDDSI levels within the care environment
Duties
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes in accordance with menu specifications and quality standards
- Supervise and manage kitchen staff, including training and mentoring junior team members
- Oversee food production processes to ensure efficiency, consistency, and safety
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area in compliance with health and safety regulations
- Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and ensure proper storage of ingredients
- Preparing modifications of food levels
- Monitor food presentation and quality control throughout the preparation process
- Enforce food safety standards and hygiene practices at all times
- Assist in menu planning and development based on seasonal ingredients and customer preferences
- Serve dishes when required, providing excellent customer service
Requirements
- Proven experience in a kitchen environment, ideally within healthcare settings
- Supervising experience is highly desirable, demonstrating leadership capabilities
- Strong skills in food preparation, cooking techniques, and food presentation
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene management
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Team management experience with the ability to motivate and lead a diverse team
- Good understanding of menu development, budgeting and ingredient sourcing
- Previous experience in healthcare environments is preferred
- Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining high standards of quality and service

Pay: £14.30-£14.60 per hour
