Swimming Assistant – Part-Time

Gold Fins Swimming School is looking for enthusiastic, reliable and friendly Swimming Assistants to join our team in Croydon.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone interested in swimming, sport, coaching, teaching or working with children, including students looking for part-time work alongside their studies.
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday: 4:00pm–6:00/7:00pm
- Saturday: 1:30pm–4:30pm
- Flexible days available – you do not need to work every day. You can choose the day(s) that suit your regular availability.
The Role
You will work alongside our qualified swimming teachers to help deliver safe, enjoyable and well-organised swimming lessons.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting the swimming teacher during lessons
- Supporting individual swimmers who need additional help or encouragement
- Helping demonstrate basic swimming skills and activities
- Helping children enter, exit and move around the pool safely
- Supporting the organisation of groups during lessons
- Preparing and putting away swimming equipment
- Helping lessons run smoothly and on time
- Encouraging swimmers and helping create a positive learning environment
- Following safeguarding, health & safety and pool procedures
About You
Previous swimming teaching experience is not required.
Being a competitive swimmer, or having experience working with children, coaching, swimming or other sports, would be beneficial but is not essential.
We are looking for someone who is:
- Confident in and around a swimming pool
- Friendly, patient and encouraging with children
- Reliable and punctual
- Able to communicate well
- Enthusiastic and willing to learn
- Comfortable working as part of a team
Qualifications
A swimming teaching qualification is not required for this position.
Training and guidance will be provided, with potential opportunities to develop your skills and progress towards becoming a qualified swimming teacher.
