Mechanical Fitter
Stone Marine Services is looking to add two experienced time-served mechanical fitters with a sound knowledge of interpreting mechanical drawings. The position will be based within our facility in Inverkeithing, Scotland, reporting to the Workshop Manager. This is not a sponsored role, to be considered for this role you must be currently based in the UK.
Responsibilities:
- Overhauling marine Propulsion /deck machinery units in a workshop environment, insuring milestones set by the workshop manager are achieved and progress updates given
- Operating various machinery in a safe way, for example lathes, milling machines etc.
- Complete inspections and quality control of items using calibration equipment
- Complete workshop inspection / Overhaul reports
- Ensure all stock items used have been recorded and the store person informed, liaising with the store person when consumable levels run low
- Adhere to all H&S policies and procedures at all times.
- Ensure the workshop is a clean and safe environment to work in.
- In ‘downtimes’ use the time productively to implement best practices/training
- Other ad hoc duties as required
- Training of Apprentices at SMS is required.
Requirements:
- You should be experienced in reading and understanding mechanical drawings (Must)
- Apprentice qualification desirable.
- Good communication skills
- Ability to prioritise workload and work to deadlines.
- High motivation to work
- Driving license
