Operating primarily across London and the South East, we specialise in maintaining and improving residential and commercial properties, including district heating networks, communal heating systems, apartment developments, civic centres, office blocks, and schools.
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced HIU Supervisor to oversee a team of engineers delivering servicing, maintenance, fault finding, repairs, and installations on Heat Interface Units (HIUs) and communal heating systems.
The successful candidate will provide technical support, supervise day-to-day operations, ensure high standards of workmanship, and act as a key point of contact between engineers, management, and clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support a team of HIU Engineers operating across London and the South East.
- Coordinate daily workloads, appointments, and engineer schedules.
- Provide technical assistance and fault-finding support on HIUs, communal heating systems, and associated plant.
- Carry out site audits, quality inspections, and performance reviews.
- Monitor engineer productivity, first-time fix rates, and service delivery KPIs.
- Ensure planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive works are completed within agreed service levels.
- Oversee commissioning, servicing, repairs, and replacements of HIUs.
- Support engineers with complex diagnostic work involving pumps, control valves, actuators, heat exchangers, and heating controls.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and company procedures.
- Review service reports and ensure accurate completion of documentation.
- Liaise with housing associations, managing agents, and residents to ensure excellent customer service.
- Assist with training, mentoring, and development of engineers and apprentices.
- Support management with recruitment, performance management, and operational improvements.
- Participate in the on-call escalation process when required.
Essential Qualifications / Experience
- Proven experience working on Heat Interface Units (HIUs) and communal heating systems.
- Previous experience in a supervisory, lead engineer, or senior HIU engineer role.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic experience on HIUs and district heating systems.
- Good understanding of pumps, control valves, actuators, heating controls, and associated plant equipment.
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plumbing & Heating, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
- Experience working within occupied residential properties and housing association environments.
- Strong leadership and organisational skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable Qualifications / Experience
- Experience working on district heating networks and energy centres.
- Manufacturer training on HIUs such as Danfoss, Altecnic, Evinox, SAV Systems, Heatweb, or Elson.
- Unvented Hot Water Certificate.
- Water Regulations Certificate.
- Knowledge of BMS and communal heating controls.
- IOSH Working Safely or Supervising Safely qualification.
