We are looking for an experienced, passionate and motivated Deputy Manager to join our established leadership team within an registered children's residential multi-building registration.
Working alongside a highly experienced Registered Manager, you will play a pivotal role in leading a dedicated team that provides safe, nurturing and therapeutic care to children and young people. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Senior Residential Worker or an existing Deputy Manager looking to develop their career within a high-quality residential childcare service.
The Role
As Deputy Manager, you will support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day leadership, management and development of a three-bed children's home. You will help ensure children receive outstanding care while maintaining the highest standards of safeguarding, regulatory compliance and professional practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Registered Manager with the day-to-day operational leadership of the home.
- Provide management oversight within a three-bed children's home operating as part of a multi-building registration.
- Lead, supervise and develop the residential staff team through regular supervision, coaching and performance management.
- Ensure children's care plans, behaviour support plans and risk assessments are implemented effectively and reviewed regularly.
- Complete quality assurance audits, identify areas for improvement and support continuous service development.
- Promote a strong safeguarding culture where children's welfare is always the highest priority.
- Chair and contribute to professional meetings, working collaboratively with local authorities and partner agencies.
- Lead team meetings that encourage reflective practice and continuous improvement.
- Participate in the management on-call rota.
- Deputise for the Registered Manager during periods of annual leave, absence or when required, ensuring the safe and effective running of the home.
- Support compliance with the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015, the Quality Standards, safeguarding legislation and Ofsted requirements.
Working Hours
This is primarily a Monday to Friday management role with typical working hours between:
- 8:00am – 4:00pm
- 9:00am – 5:00pm
- 10:00am – 6:00pm
Flexibility is essential. As part of the leadership team, you will occasionally be required to provide operational support by covering shifts in response to annual leave, sickness or emergency situations.
About You
We're looking for someone who is passionate about improving outcomes for children using a therapeutic approach and has the confidence and experience to lead others.
Essential Requirements
- Level 3 or Level 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
- Willingness to complete the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare if not already achieved.
- Minimum of two years' experience working within a children's residential setting.
- At least 12 months' experience in a Senior Residential Worker, Team Leader, Deputy Manager or equivalent supervisory role.
- Excellent knowledge of safeguarding, children's legislation, the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Ofsted expectations.
- Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
