The Role: Hire Desk Controller Apprentice
You’ll be at the heart of our operations, supporting our sales team and customers, coordinating equipment, and ensuring every hire runs smoothly. Working closely with operations and the wider team, you’ll learn the full hire process from start to finish.
This is a varied, people‑focused role perfect for someone organised, confident on the phone, and eager to learn.
Apprenticeship Training
At Ideal Heat Solutions, we are committed to developing future talent. As part of this apprenticeship, you will work towards a recognised qualification supported by LEAP Apprenticeships, gaining valuable industry knowledge alongside practical workplace experience.
LEAP Apprenticeships will provide structured training and ongoing support throughout your learning journey, helping you develop the skills needed for a successful career in operations, customer service, and business administration.
Training will cover areas including:
- Customer service excellence
- Business administration and office systems
- Communication and relationship building
- Commercial awareness
- Time management and organisation
- Workplace health and safety
- Professional behaviours and personal development
You'll receive dedicated support from both your LEAP Apprenticeships tutor and the Ideal Heat Solutions team, ensuring you have everything you need to succeed in your role and achieve your qualification of Hire controller (plant, tools and equipment) (level 2)
Key Responsibilities
- Manage hire administration — contracts, on/off‑hire documents, delivery notes, and system updates
- Coordinate transport and maintain the depot transport diary
- Support customers as the first point of contact for calls and enquiries
- Check equipment in/out and maintain accurate records
- Assist with stock and fuel management
- Work with engineers to ensure job reports and diaries are up to date
- Raise quotations and support the sales team with quick turnaround
- Maintain customer follow‑ups and CRM records
- Ensure compliance with all company and H&S procedures

- Confident IT skills, including MS Office
- Strong communication — written and verbal

Full time – 8.00am - 4.30pm
Pay: £17,000.00-£18,000.00 per year
