Our successful Locum Consultant will be dependable, flexible and able to integrate quickly into the team, providing consistent senior clinical support within a busy Emergency Department environment.
The principal duty of this post is to provide a comprehensive clinical service to patients within the trust area and to
Always comply with the GMC requirements of Duties of a Doctor.
Be responsible for the clinical management of patients under your care.
Provide senior leadership on the shopfloor during scheduled clinical shifts to coordinate the delivery of safe and excellent clinical care to all patients attending the Emergency Department.
Supervise junior doctors and nurse practitioners in the assessment and management of patients and provide senior clinical review where appropriate.
Work closely with multidisciplinary colleagues and inpatient specialty teams to ensure care is delivered in a streamlined and timely manner across the acute pathway.
Lead clinical rounds in all areas of the Emergency Department to review patients and management plans, and to ensure safe handover.
Promote a strong focus on achieving and maintaining national and local quality and performance standards.
Participate in an on-call rota to provide consultant cover to the department during the out of hours’ period.
To attend Emergency Medicine consultant meetings as scheduled.
Ensure that patient confidentiality is always maintained.
