Water Hygiene Engineer

We are recruiting for an experienced Water Hygiene Engineer to join a commercial maintenance team working across a range of client sites in South London.
The role will involve carrying out water hygiene and Legionella prevention duties across mains-fed and stored hot and cold water systems, along with minor plumbing works where required. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career, with ongoing training and progression available.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out water temperature monitoring, sampling and inspections.
- Inspect, clean and disinfect cold water storage tanks.
- Complete shower cleaning and descaling, along with other outlet maintenance.
- Carry out Thermostatic Mixing Valve (TMV) servicing.
- Undertake minor plumbing and water service works.
- Complete accurate same-day service reports using a PDA/mobile device.
- Maintain professional relationships with clients and customers.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with relevant regulations.
- Identify and report defective or non-calibrated tools and equipment.
- Work independently and as part of a wider team.
- Respond to urgent works and assist colleagues when required.
- Meet required deadlines and service standards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement across the team.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Minimum 1 year's experience within a water hygiene environment.
- Legionella Awareness training.
- Good knowledge of water hygiene practices and Legionella prevention.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A proactive and professional approach to completing work.
- Full UK driving licence.
A plumbing qualification/NVQ and practical plumbing experience would be desirable.
Knowledge of ACoP L8, HSG274 and the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999 would also be advantageous.
Additional qualifications such as Asbestos Awareness, Working at Height, Manual Handling or First Aid are desirable.
