Prospect Fencing Supplies Ltd is looking for a reliable, self-employed delivery driver to join our growing team on a flexible basis.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who already works for themselves or retired and is looking to earn additional income through flexible delivery work. The workload will vary depending on our projects and customer requirements, so there may be one delivery per week one week and several deliveries the next.
We supply fencing materials to customers and contractors across the UK, so deliveries can range from local jobs around the North West to longer-distance runs, including London and Scotland.
The Role
You will be responsible for collecting and delivering fencing materials on behalf of Prospect Fencing Supplies Ltd using a 3.5-tonne flatbed vehicle.
Typical materials will include:
- Fencing panels
- Fence posts
- Gates
- Composite fencing
- Security fencing
- Other fencing materials and associated products
The role will involve:
- Safely loading and strapping materials securely onto a 3.5-tonne flatbed vehicle.
- Transporting materials safely to customers and sites.
- Assisting with offloading at the delivery location.
- Completing collections from our suppliers when required.
- Communicating professionally with customers, suppliers and our team.
- Ensuring materials arrive safely and in good condition.
- Completing a maximum of approximately 3 collection/delivery stops per day in most cases.
- Carrying out basic vehicle and load safety checks before setting off.
Working Pattern
This is a flexible, self-employed position.
Work will generally be Monday to Friday, with the occasional Saturday potentially required depending on workload.
The number of days will vary. Some weeks may involve one delivery, while busier weeks could involve several days of work.
We are particularly interested in someone who has good availability during normal working hours and is willing to help us as the business continues to grow.
What We’re Looking For
Ideally, you’ll have:
- A valid driving licence suitable for driving a 3.5-tonne vehicle.
- Previous experience driving a 3.5-tonne vehicle is preferred.
- A clean driving licence is preferred, subject to our insurance requirements.
- Good knowledge of UK roads and navigation.
- Experience securing loads with straps and other appropriate equipment.
- A reliable and responsible approach to transporting materials.
- Good physical fitness, as the role involves assisting with the loading and unloading of fencing materials.
- A professional and friendly manner when dealing with customers and suppliers.
- Good communication and timekeeping.
- The ability to work independently and manage delivery schedules responsibly.
- Self-employed status and the ability to provide the relevant documentation required to work with us.
Driving experience and suitability for our commercial vehicle insurance will be considered as part of the recruitment process.
