Overview
Chester Composites is a leading specialist in the design, manufacture and installation of GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) buildings and modular steel buildings. We deliver high-quality engineered solutions across a range of sectors, working closely with clients to provide bespoke products from concept through to installation.
Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit an experienced Project / Contracts Manager to join our team and oversee the successful delivery of multiple projects.
The Role
Reporting to the senior management team, you will be responsible for managing projects from contract award through to completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
This is a varied role requiring strong project management skills, excellent communication and a proactive approach to planning, coordination and problem solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously from inception to completion.
- Plan and coordinate fabrication, procurement, logistics and installation activities.
- Liaise with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and internal departments to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Monitor project programmes, budgets and contractual obligations.
- Conduct site visits and oversee installation activities where required.
- Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety legislation and company procedures.
- Prepare and review RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements).
- Carry out site inspections and audits to maintain high safety standards.
- Manage project documentation, progress reports and client communications.
- Resolve technical and commercial issues as they arise.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across project delivery.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a Project Manager or Contracts Manager role.
- Proven experience delivering engineering, construction, fabrication or modular building projects.
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and best practices.
- Experience preparing and reviewing RAMS.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Commercial awareness and budget management experience.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Desirable
- Experience within GRP, modular construction, steel fabrication or a related manufacturing environment.
- IOSH Managing Safely, NEBOSH or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations.
- Experience working with subcontractors and installation teams.
