Altrad are currently on the lookout for a Senior Piping Designer to join the team based in Middlesbrough.
The successful candidate will take ownership and responsibility for the execution of assigned work while working within a multi-discipline team to deliver fully integrated piping designs for major project scopes.
Key Deliverables:
- Conduct site surveys of piping systems, pipe supports, and connected items.
- Determine piping tie-in points using basic process data, best practice, client specifications, and consideration of the resulting scope.
- Develop piping and equipment layouts and plot plans.
- Develop piping isometrics, general arrangements, support drawings, and 3D models.
- Import laser scan data into 3D CAD packages.
- Prepare piping stress isometrics where required.
- Mark up P&IDs to support communication of scope boundaries with Process.
- Prepare piping material take-offs.
- Participate in model design reviews.
- Review client documentation, including drawings, and confirm validity against the current plant configuration.
Key Requirements / Qualifications:
- HNC or equivalent qualification in a technical or engineering design subject.
- Essential experience in AVEVA E3D modelling.
- Minimum 10 years' recent experience in a similar piping design role.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D/3D, AVEVA E3D, and similar drafting packages.
- Experience working on site, including manual layout methods and surveying.
- Experience with level surveys, laser scanning, 3D modelling, and other relevant technologies within a design environment.
- Awareness or working knowledge of specialist areas such as pipe stress analysis and construction methods.
- Experience developing layouts within a 3D workspace.
- Detailed experience working with P&IDs and piping isometric drawings.
- Experience conducting site surveys and visual condition assessments.
- Understanding of site H&S requirements, codes of conduct, and sound ethical standards in line with professional bodies and employer expectations.
